The greater Medford Urbanized Area – which covers portions of Jackson County as well as the Cities of Medford, Central Point, Eagle Point, Talent, Jacksonville, Phoenix, and Ashland – has been determined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Administration to be out of compliance with the National Ambient Air Quality Standards as set forth in the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990.

The Rogue Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization (RVMPO), which covers the greater Medford Urbanized Area, is responsible for determining whether or not the soon to be adopted Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for fiscal years 2024-2027 conforms with the standards as set forth in the State Implementation Plan for the RVMPO. The hearing will be held at 2:00 p.m., May 23, 2023, during the Policy Committee. Written comments received by 5 p.m., May 22, 2023, will be included in a staff report for Policy Committee review.

The Draft Air Quality Conformity Determination (AQCD) for the 2024-2027 TIP, and the 2024-2027 TIP is now available for public comment on the RVMPO’s website (https://rvmpo.org).

The AQCD identifies the requirements placed on the RVMPO for addressing the emissions created by transportation related air quality pollution.  The two primary pollutants are Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Particulate Matter of ≥ 10 µ in size (the primary contributor is road dust).

We are seeking public comment over the next thirty (30) days.  Anyone wishing to comment should go to the website and click on the “contact us” link.  Or you can mail comments to:
